The Sunshine Strummers ukulele band has been spreading happiness and cheer with a programme of concerts across Hull, East Riding and North Yorkshire. We have been in great demand and recent performances have included playing at the Beverley Barges Heritage Weekend, Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church and the
Celebration of Older People in Cottingham.
It’s been a busy summer season, already, for the Sunshine Strummers with performances at the Walkington and Gristhorpe Ukulele Festivals, The Big Afternoon Tea Event in Cottingham, Mires Beck Summer Fair, and Magdalen Park and Ivanhoe Care Homes.
We love taking our music out into the community and we are receiving lots of requests to play from new venues all based on recommendations from groups and individuals that have heard us play.
We are now working on a new Sea and River Inspired theme as we work towards a concert for the Beverley Barges Heritage weekend in early September. We also have an exciting project planned for early November as we have been booked to play at a Bomber County - Yorkshire themed event linked to Remembrance Day. We are also already fully booked up for performances over the Christmas period commencing in late November, including One Amazing Christmas Strum at the Albermarle Music Centre on Saturday 5th December. Alongside our enthusiastic ukulele players we now have a drummer, a washboard and a bass player contributing to our amazing music ensemble.
The The Sunshine Strummers Group meets every Monday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, at the Men in Sheds venue, with an enthusiastic group of 33 ukulele players. New and experienced players are always welcome and a six-week introductory programme is available for beginners before progressing to join the group.
