In May of 2015, six members of the Anlaby, Willerby & Kirk Ella u3a met in an attempt to learn to play the Ukulele. Little did we know just what this would lead to!

Eric Brown, one of the six had played the Ukulele for many, many years and he patiently took us through the basic chords and strumming patterns. We first mastered, ‘You are my Sunshine’ and then we were on our way. It was certainly never our intention to go out to play for others but after playing for our u3a at a Christmas meeting, offers came in and we have regularly played for many Church Groups and Care homes in the area and beyond.

We continue to practice our strumming at St. Luke’s Church Hall
on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 1.30 – 3.30p.m. Not only do we seek to broaden our repertoire but also we are always on the look out for new members wishing to develop their musical talent.

We currently have over 50 members in the two groups so from little acorns, a great musical oak tree has grown. We are really just a Baby Boomer group of ageing rockers, LIVING THE DREAM!

Anyone interested in joining one of the Ukulele groups should contact Peter Taylor for details, using the link at the top of this page.
