Play Reading Group 1
Our June play was Nude with a Violin by Noel Coward. It is set in Paris in 1956.
Following the funeral of a famous painter his family and associates find out that he painted none of the pictures which were signed by him and sold for large sums of money. It turns out that they were painted by several different people over a period of time. The artist dies intestate and this leads to concerns as to how much money will be inherited and by whom. Sebastian the valet manipulates events to bring about a happy ending for everyone. Christine Trever
Play Reading Group 2
Our most recent play reading was 'Running Riot' - a farce by, Derek Benfield. A mild-mannered, Yorkshire greengrocer, Humphrey Podmore, decides that he’s had enough of his domineering wife so escapes to Europe. Whilst there, he is mistaken for
a famous British Olympic athlete, then lands in a farcical web of international
espionage. Further high jinks lead to Humphrey being forced to run the race, leading to chaotic results.
Our Summer lunch is on Wednesday, 26th August, at 1.30 pm, and the next play reading will be on Wednesday, 23rd September, at 2pm. Pauline Park
